AI and Machine Learning Specialist

We are seeking an AI/ML specialist to configure Machine Learning (Bayesian, Artificial Intelligence, Amazon Rekognition, SageMaker, TensorFlow, etc) software to process wilderness camera imagery, for animal population research.
Identifying humans, mountain lions and other creatures captured by motion detection cameras, on mountain trails, is central to our ecosystem research and conservation efforts. The cameras generate large quantities of video and still imagery, but the manual process of categorizing is very time consuming. We would like assistance with (any) software to recognize animal types and false positives, in the sorting process.

If you are interested in being a community scientist and enjoy nature, then is a great volunteer opportunity for you. In this role you will help maintain our large remote sensing wildlife camera network. You will be responsible for checking a camera trap every month deployed in a park or other open space, and uploading those images to our cloud-based database. Previous experience with wildlife cameras and with data work is a plus but not required. A reliable internet connection is required in order to upload your images. You will receive all training necessary. You'll need to have your own SD card reader and battery charger as well as transportation to reach the various open spaces where are cameras are deployed. Unfortunately, these locations do not tend to be accessible by public transportation. Our camera trap network spans East (Alameda, Contra Costa) and North (Marin) SF Bay Area, as well as the Peninsula (San Mateo County). We also maintain a smaller camera network in Orange County.
A commitment of at least 6 months is required. Longer is preferred.
Image cataloguing Volunteer for Bay Area Puma Project

Felidae's Bay Area Puma Project is seeking volunteers to assist with entering remote trail camera data. This role can be done remotely.
This role involves using a specialized, but simple, cloud-based database program to annotate species ID from camera trap images. These data are then used in multiple scientific analyses for wildlife in the Bay Area and in presentations and reports available to the public. Training will be provided remotely.
We request that those interested be available at least once per week for 1-2 hours. This is a great opportunity for adults and students seeking volunteer opportunities.

Felidae Conservation Fund is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented volunteer to provide office and administrative support. This role is primarily remote, with the option for some in-person involvement if the volunteer is local to the Bay Area, and requires a minimum commitment of six months or longer to ensure continuity and support for our operations. Responsibilities include office and administrative tasks, organizing and record-keeping, CRM data entry and management, email correspondence, scheduling, and assisting with annual filings and compliance documentation. The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, and able to work independently, with strong communication skills and familiarity with office software or CRM systems preferred.
