The Experience

★ Watching Jaguars. Jaguars have been protected on this stretch of river for over 20 years. The big cats (usually shy and nocturnal) lounge or hunt along the river banks by day, creating unprecedented sighting and photography opportunities.

★ Discover Life on the River. With our lodge is literally on the river, the wild is all around - and we won’t miss any of it because this is the…

Safari - Brazilian style. Jaguars, Giant otters, Brazilian tapirs, Capybaras, and Giant Anteaters all live on the river. We will look for Ocelot, Howler monkeys, and other primates, too! And then there are the zillions of Paraguayan caimans, not the largest Crocodylia - but impressive nonetheless - and Jaguars love them!

★ Amazon Birds. 404 species, including the gorgeous (IUNC) Vulnerable Hyacinth Macaw, iconic Toco Tucans, and the weird and wonderful Jabiru Storks.

Special Guest: The little-known Maned Wolf is among the planet's most fascinating and rare animals. We will have an opportunity to visit one of their secret strongholds. Will they be there?

★ Make a Difference on Two Continents: This itinerary directly supports SouthWild, which has been protecting wildlife and habitat in Brazil for over twenty years. In the US, the Felidae Conservation Fund works to protect big cats such as Mountain Lions through educational and conservation programs that promote healthy coexistence with their increasingly close human neighbors.
